The VSS racing season has arrived and our Venice Sailing snowbirds are slowly returning to begin this years VSS racing program and activities.  A good number of our racers kept in racing mode this summer by participating in the Green Flash racing series program, thanks to Captain John Lynch, and his great crew on board Flash.

Wehope to improve our racing program this year with the addition of Ken Nolan, a very experienced sailor and former race committee chair from St Martin, which hosts some of the top races in the world.   Along with Ken comes a race committee boat that he generously will provide for our racing days. This will give our racers a more visual start by using signal flags and a start and finish boat mark, along with setting marks and other water uses.

If you are a VSS member and may not want to race but still want to enjoy the racing events, there may be be room on the committee boat to be a spectator, and maybe a fishing pole to ride out the time on station while on the Gulf.

We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful program to offer our members who enjoy sailing.

I would like make a correction to last months Racing Captain's Tell Tale report.  Regarding the monthly racing schedule: the distance and buoy races will all be on Saturdays, unless otherwise changed for reasons such as weather.

As always the captains meetings will be at Higel Park at 11:00 am and the races will start at 1:00 pm unless otherwise posted.

We welcome all to come out for a good sail. What better place to enjoy our beautiful waters.

 Warm regards,
