Windjammer Recap from John Lynch
VSS 21 November Distance Race abandoned due to lack of wind.
This years'a annual Sarasota Yacht Club Invitational Regatta took place on Saturday November 7th. It was a beautiful day on Sarasota Bay with variable winds from four to twelve knots and mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80's.
Boats from half a dozen classes competed including three from the VSS racing Fleet. Lou Salhany's Opalina came in fourth in the pocket cruiser class, Rolph Hahn's Raegan-e came in third in the Spinnaker class and John Lynch's Flash clinched the top spot for the Racer Cruiser class. Congratulations to all the VSS boats and crews!
Complete results for all the sail boats can be found on the regatta page on regatanetwork
Attached are the results of Saturday's Buoy race and the standings at October 31, 2015 after one Distance Race and one Buoy Race.
All of the Class A boats have PHRF ratings as Racer/Cruisers, except Fruition whose PHRF rating is that of Cruiser. To increase compatibility the Race Committee adjusted Fruition's rating downward to eliminate the extensive number of credits allowed in the Cruising rating.

We had 8 boats out for the VSS Distance Pursuit Race, this was a 9 nm triangle counter clockwise course. This was also the first time our committee boat was used to monitor the race.
What a wonderful addition to our racing program.
On the committee boat helping with the racing procedures were, Johnathan Philllps, Ken Nolan and Norm Sooy. This was my first experience being able to monitor and view all our Venice racers from the start-finish mark and it was very exciting.
Hope to see all our Venice Racers on Halloween Oct 31st for the VSS Buoy race.
The VSS racing season has arrived and our Venice Sailing snowbirds are slowly returning to begin this years VSS racing program and activities. A good number of our racers kept in racing mode this summer by participating in the Green Flash racing series program, thanks to Captain John Lynch, and his great crew on board Flash.
The Venice Sailing program has been active with pursuit and buoy racing since our season started. With the help of our Venice sailors we have just about completed our spring sailing events.
The Buoy Race standings are in.
JAPSDIP again today! Sunny and warm with a 8–13 knot westerly breeze. We sailed two rather short (2.8 nm) triangles, once around. Seven boats came out. In the first race
