Sailors,

I have made a first cut at the NOS (notice of Series) and the SI (Sailing Instructions) .  I think the NOS is close to being correct but the SI do need some additions.  They along with the other material I provided earlier plus more are also available on the GF website, http://www.greenflashsailing.com/.  Please look this material over and make suggestions and corrections.  Last week Bill Walker and I moved around some of the buoys so that attached material has some incorrect labels.  “D” is now at “Irma” and “G” and “C” are now at “Jose”, the start –finish area.  I hope to make a trip back out in the next few days to get better positions and I’ll update the course information after that.  In any case, the attached courses and start times are still good enough for our purposes.

 The first race was a pursuit start at 1300 hours, with a 6nm triangle windward leeward course.

 To All VSS members

 The buoy pursuit race for 2/6/16, started on schedule at 1:00, with Opalina being the first boat to start with Bella Mer, being second followed by Fruition, Flash then Reagan-e.  The finish times are :  1st Fruition 2:13:32, 2nd Reagan-e 2:14:27, 3rd Bella Mer 2:20:47, 4th Flash 2:20:48, 5th Opalina 2:25:46.

Not JAPSDIP

Today was definitely not JAPSDIP, as there was nothing perfect about it nor was the Gulf paradise. It was cool (50 F at about 11:30 AM) with a heavy overcast and intermittent rain. The wind was from the NW around 10 knots at the start time of 1:00 PM, which steadily increased into the low 20s during the time we stayed out. Only five boats came out, Fruition, Raegan-e, Bella Mer, Opalina and Flash. The race was a pursuit style race on an 8.9 NM triangle, windward leeward course. We (Flash) started behind Opalina, Bella Mer and Fruition and in front of Raegan-e. It rained a bit before the start and periodically harder later, and we got quite cold, excepting Drew Gillett, who was properly prepared.

The first race Protest Flash against Fruition
 Second race Protest Fruition against Flash
 Second race Flash and Reagan-e against Fruition

 The first race Fruition came in first for racers the others were DNF.
 The first race for cruisers Cool Betty was first the other cruisers DNF.

 The second race rule 26 start Fruition first the others DNF.
 The second race for cruisers rule 26 start was Cool Betty first  the other cruisers DNF/drop out.
 Currently both A races are under protest.  FlashReagan-e is protesting Fruition's two finishes.

31 October VSS Buoy Races Summary

Fellow Sailors:
 
Attached are the results of Saturday's Buoy race and the standings at October 31, 2015 after one Distance Race and one Buoy Race.
 
All of the Class A boats have PHRF ratings as Racer/Cruisers, except Fruition whose PHRF rating is that of Cruiser.  To increase compatibility the Race Committee adjusted Fruition's rating downward to eliminate the extensive number of credits allowed in the Cruising rating.

Today's Buoy Race

JAPSDIP again today!  Sunny and warm with a 8–13 knot westerly breeze.  We sailed two rather short (2.8 nm) triangles, once around.  Seven boats came out.  In the first race

Today's Buoy Races

Today was JASDIP (minus), with the minus possible due to the pretty strong breeze.  The forecast was for fairly light wind, but the reality was 15 – 18 knots from the NW over the racing period, as recorded by NOAA’s instruments on the pier.  I set up a fairly small triangle and called for sailing a triangle plus a windward-leeward, marks to port.
