The second annual summertime VSS kayak trip and picnic is this Saturday, July 15 at Oscar Sherer State Park, located on Highway 41 in Osprey.
If you own a kayak, plan to launch at 10:00 a.m. at the launch site at the South Creek Launch and Kayak rental location. If you want to rent a kayak announce so at the park gate with the ragner.
Admission to the State Park is $5 per car.
If you need to rent a kayak, the ranger at the entry station will direct you to the rental launch area and will provide you with a paddle and life vest for a fee of $10.50 per hour. I would anticipate you will use your kayak for two hours. Park your vehicle next to the rental launch area.
We will be paddling for two hours in fresh water on South Creek, which runs through the Park.
Bring Your Lunch and Beverges
Following the kayak trip, we picnic at South Creek Picnic Area -- just a very short drive from the entry gate for those who brought their kayaks. The lake is adjacent to the kayak rental area. There are restrooms, hiking trails, swimming, and a nature center located in this picnic area.
Bring your own food and drink. Charcoal provided grills available, covered pavallions, bathhouse.
Anyone not kayaking is welcome to join the kayakers at the South Creel Launch and picnic area around noon.
DON'T FORGET WATER AND SUNSCREEN.
Please refer questions to me, Miriam Staveley, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your RSVP would be appreciated, especially if you plan to rent a kayak so I can let the rangers know how many kayaks we will need. I look forward to seeing you all for a DAY IN THE PARK, Saturday, July 15!
