VSS Racing

The Venice Sailing Squadron includes an active racing community. During each racing season October thru May, the VSS holds weekly buoy races, as well as sponsors a series of regattas off the coast of Venice and Nokomis in the Gulf of America. The VSS is a member of the Sarasota Bay Yachting Association (SBYA) and US Sailing.

Skipper's Meetings

Skipper's meetings are typically held at 10am the day of each race at Higel Marine Park in Venice. For those Skippers who are short of crew or want to find out about cruising around the course, this is the place to be. Same applies for any sailor interested in crewing on a race boat should attend the Skippers meeting - we will do our best to match you with a Skipper.

Racing Mission
Our races encourage friendly competition and the development of sailing skills among boats and crews of all experience levels. Boats considering entering a race or the series are encouraged to review the notice, and to reach out with any questions.

Come Join Us!
For Skipper's that are curious and want to try an afternoon of racing, we offer crew as available to help you race the boat, show you how to start and sail the course, or give a refresher on the racing rules. These races are a great way to actively use your boat, and fine tune your skills.
